Television weather photographs IF you are thinking of contributing weather photographs to broadcast organizations using e-mail addresses other than those which assume that you accept their terms and conditions - such as the BBC's yourpix@bbc.co.uk - then you may wish to stipulate how you are prepared to see your image(s) used. You may wish to say in a covering e-mail that you are licensing the image for free on-screen use in conjunction with a live weather forecast, but that the image may not be used otherwise without written licensing permission and an appropriate fee, that the file should be removed from the organization's electronic storage system after a set period of time and that you require confirmation that this has been done. You may also wish to stipulate the length of time, in seconds, for which the image may be used. However much you may wish to contribute to good causes, it is worth remembering that printers get paid for producing charity calendars, that non-profit organizations remunerate their staff with competitive salaries and pay commercial rents for their offices.
